Animal symptoms are much like human symptoms and often appear to be an allergy. They may have running noses and water eyes. There could be increased scratching, chewing, rubbing and licking of their skin. They may experience hair loss, infections or crusty papules. Some have even experience pneumonia. Animals may also experience respiratory issues or pulmonary trauma. Some animals are not able to detoxify the mycotoxins, having less resistance makes them more susceptible to the dangerous effects of the mold. If you have or suspect you may have mold contamination, remove your pet immediately.
What we do is cut the excess from the goatskin so that we end up with a round similar to our cow skin round. We then plug some holes around the perimeter of the skin and soak it in water until it becomes soft and workable. Once we're ready to mount the skin, we temporarily mount it on the flesh ring by weaving rope through the holes we've plugged. This keeps the skin in place during the early stages and assures that we have the right tension on it to begin with.
